Dr. Gerhard Nitz
Dr. Gerhard Nitz is a lawyer and a specialist in medical law. He is a partner in the law firm Geiger Nitz + Partner Rechtsanwälte.
After studying law in Mainz, Dijon and Bielefeld, he initially worked as a research assistant at the chair of Prof. Dr. Chr. Gusy for public law, political science and constitutional history in Bielefeld. In 2000, between research stints in Michigan and Paris, he was awarded a doctorate here for his dissertation on a constitutional and administrative law topic (“Private and Public Security”).
From 2001 until 2017, he was a lawyer at one of the leading medical law firms in Germany and became a partner in the firm in 2008. In 2018, he then joined up with his current partners to establish Geiger Nitz + Partner, a legal firm specializing in health law.
Gerhard Nitz mainly advises pharmaceutical companies and doctors regarding statutory health insurance and pharmaceutical law including constitutional and European legal issues. In light of his experience with contracted physicians, he focuses on advising pharmaceutical companies on market access and reimbursement issues, in particular on the AMNOG. He also focuses on prescription management measures for medical self-administration. He uses his experience of the regulation of the pharmaceuticals market when advising clients on related problems in the area of non-medicinal examination and treatment methods.
He regularly gives talks and publishes articles about these topics in medical and legal literature. Given his high level of specialization and his in-depth experience, the sector information service Juve added his name to the list of the nine “leading names in pharmaceutical and medical product law” in 2017.
He advises clients in German, English and French.
